The flood disaster continues to unfold & worsen here in the South East corner of Queensland. My city of Brisbane is bracing for a river peak higher than the 1974 flood, which was massive. It is a frightening, worrying & stressful time. We are thankful our house is not in a flood zone & our family members are safe.
When I was last in Brisbane I remember mention of flood control construction that was done in the 70's. The news leads me to believe that this most recent flooding will certainly challenge the control system. BBC said last night that low lying suburbs would be flooded...and there's been such population growth since the 70's. My thoughts are with you. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that we are hunkering down for 20" of snow in the next 24 hours. Still....a lot better than water.
