Potatoes

This Potato Tornado [and there were several other names for it] was a new food item at the Ekka, so we had to try it. A novel idea and presentation for hot chips and certainly enough for two.
Going back to the earlier posts this week regarding the detail photos of the quilts entered in Quilts Across Queensland, I'd like to apologise for not acknowledging the skilled makers of the lovely pieces that caught my eye. You deserve to have been acknowledged and I slipped up, sorry.

 

Cake decorating

The cake decorating competition in the Fine Arts Pavilion is always crowded but I managed to take a couple of photos without too much reflection as these beauties are behind glass. The Princess and the Pea above. Today is People's Day, the Brisbane Show Holiday, a day when record crowds are often seen at the venue.

 

Hexagons

There were a few hexagon quilts at Quilts Across Queensland that caught my eye. I think it is interesting to see the colour combinations and the quilting of these quilts which take any hours to hand piece.

Ekka quilt colour

The Quilts Across Queensland display is in the upstairs section of the Dairy Pavilion while the Ekka is on for another week.

I snapped a few details of colourful quilts. It is wonderful to have quilters support this show and see the genuine interest of the people who pass through the pavilion. So congratulations to all who enter.
