Wolf in the Fog, Tofino

We ate at Wolf in the Fog restaurant run by a NZ and Aussie chef. It was voted one of the best new restaurants in 2014 and is certainly popular with fresh seafood dishes.
A smoked oyster wrapped in potato shreds, deep fried and drizzled with truffle oil.
Smoked steelhead trout salad. The plates used for serving are mismatched and the décor is cutting edge modern. On the menu is 'six pack for the kitchen' and you can shout the staff this item, if you feel inclined.
And just a parting shot from Marina West near our accommodation.

On the beach

Black mussels and barnacles on the shore rocks.
A bear enjoying a crab feast, turning over the rocks for an easy dinner.
The thick moss covers the trees in the rain forest.

Rugged coast

It is a rugged, rocky coast on the western side of Vancouver Island and thick rainforest grows down to the water's edge. National Park paths make walking easy but without these it would be hard bush bashing.Cougars, wolves, deer and bears live in the forests. We saw a cougar paw print.
Lots of wood is piled on the beaches by the tides. Timber getting is a big industry in the area and the logs are floated down the waterways, between islands.

Way to Tofino

Visited the Snip and Stitch Sewing Centre in Nanaimo on our way to Tofino n the west coast. These ladies were in for a computer aided design class. L-R Chris, me, Donna the instructor and sorry, I didn't get the name of this lovely student.
Encountered baby bear on the way.
Got into Tofino in time for this seafood feast. It was hard work but we did out best to eat all the local delicacies.
This is one of the common ways of getting around these coastal islands.
