Paper

Artist Robyn Woodrow uses recycled paper for her exquisite creations which she shared with us at the 2QAQ meeting.
Recycling a satin wedding dress into a frilly, paper covered creation.
Such an interesting texture with the shredded paper.
A floral bouquet for the bride.
And perhaps an interesting head piece too, finishing the outfit off with a pair of gold slip-ons.

All over for another year

The Jumpers and Jazz in July is over, until next year.
It was such good fun hanging out with 'old' friends,
who loved checking out the interesting dressed trees. This is 'Mama Mia Me' and she had attitude!
This where the 'me' in the tile comes in- a mirror face!
Also lots of Italian inspired work. Yes, that's spaghetti and meatballs.

Kalbar

It's so nice to make new discoveries on a road that has been travelled many times before. And so it was when we decided to stop at Kalbar for coffee on our way to Warwick on the Southern Darling Downs, Queensland.
First we found the ' Bored Husbands Seat' outside the bakery and craft shop.
But this sign 'Art Café du Kalbar' had caught our eye and the lovely seating out the front was very inviting.
Inside Kristie has decorated with 1950's nostalgia.
Items are for sale but the coffee and chocolate tart got our attention.
Open 7days from 9am- 4pm and well worth a visit for friendly service and great home baked treats.

Warwick Garden Trellis workshop

A lot of fun last weekend with fabrics being stencilled and fusible painted in readiness for preparation of tiles for our trellis.
Extra birds stencilled onto a tropical background by Marg.
Marcia and her bright background which looked wonderful with extra leaves.
The room was buzzing with sewing activity.
Rae and one of her pieces ready to be cut.
Jeanette's first tiles ready for more embellishment!
Rita Summers and her tiles.

Young sewer

Lovely to have Miss 8 over for some sewing time on the machine. She has not spent time doing this before, being more familiar with hand stitching. I had some spare leaves from the Leaf of the Party lying around and so we decided to make some more. She became confident enough to stitch free motion on the majority of the leaves made.
They are made using washaway and scraps and now even have their own special box.

Coco Jungle

These cute monkeys were hiding in the greenery at Coco Jungle at Sunnybank Plaza, hoping to steal a chocolate threat.
But no fondue for them, it was gobbled up too fast!
There are 2 small waffles under the fruit and chocolate sauce. Unfortunately I don't think they were  freshly made.

Viewpoints 9 challenge

Our Viewpoints 9 challenges are at an end, with the last one 'Unnatural' being set by Mary a few weeks ago. This is one challenge in which I am taking the easy way out and will look at foliage printing. I discovered some amazing colours in my garden which relate to the challenge.
I have more photos on the Viewpoints 9 blog site too.

Jumpers and Jazz

The Warwick Art Gallery has impressive signage outside their building.
And a very BIG ball of wool with knitting needles and jazz player. A great sculpture- [sorry did not get the artist's name] with a knitted trail to the Town Hall.
These are some of the journals I have for sale at the Art Gallery. Quilted and painted, they were fun to do..

All done

Here she is in all her glory! Wow, probably better than I imagined at the bottom with the skirt and godets flaring out.
I had to peek out from between her branches covered in her special gloves.
On display for the 10 days of the Jumpers and Jazz Festival in the Town Hall foyer, Palmerin Street.
Checked out some of the great hand spun, knitted, crocheted and felted items for sale by the Yangan Village Artisans at 41 King Street. They use Alpaca fibre and it feels very soft and cuddly. Helen Stumkat also has lovely items at a shop in Grafton Street.

The Leaf of the Party

The party is about to begin in Warwick with 10 days of celebration, jazz, textiles, food and all good things beginning July 18. First I need to dress my tree!
The long straps will be tied to the upper branches to hold the dress up. They are made from a sparkly organza. A bit hard to see, but the extra bits I stitched are also part of the frilly bits on the front and back.
This might look like a jelly fish, but it is one of four gloves for my branches. More photos of the dressed tree to come. The 10 anniversary trees are on display in the Town  Hall Foyer- hope you can drop in.
Thanks for all the positive comments yesterday about my creative process for Seasonal Change my SAQA auction quilt.
