What a great pleasure to help celebrate the 21st birthday of Down Under Quilts magazine. This Australian quilting magazine began in Beenleigh, Queensland & has continued to grow & support Australian quilters over the years.
Loved chatting to Julie Thornton the maker of this wearable art named 'Rose Tatoo'. Julie told me it was stitched on a soluble base with Madeira thread & the black yarn roses & leaves were also enhanced with stitch. It was part of the Art to Wear- Black & White display.
'Serenity' by Wendy Smith was awarded Best of Show. The hand quilting stitches were so phenomenally tiny- just amazing!
& Quilt Fair 3 halls of shopping & exhibitions await. More than 300 quilts were on display by members of the Quilters Guild of NSW.
