Weaving

Weaving in the village of Kaithoon, near Kota is fantastic to see in all the stages of production. We were greeted by very friendly children and attracted quite a following, like the Pied Piper, as we walked through the village.
Dyeing the cotton and silk yarn for the loom.
Rice starch is applied to the very long 6 yard sari lengths and then separated using the coconut fibre brushes.
The fine cotton, silk and gold threads are woven on pit looms [ the weaver's feet rest in a shallow pit below the loom].
