Lava stone

Got excited by the texture of the lava stone, used for walls and buildings in Kona. Jewellery is also made from this porous material.

The oldest church on the Big Island uses the stone in it's wall construction. And it's interesting to see the volcanic landscape when driving. The highest point was shrouded in cloud yesterday.

Five volcanoes make up the Big Island. Most are extinct or dormant, for now.
