Quilt Festival

I'm going to blog about Quilt Festival, as it is so exciting to be here, & then return to our travels later. It seems there are no quilters left in Australia, as they are all here & we met many of them last night at Preview. I also met Shelly Stokes who has written several books on paint sticks. It was great talking to her & seeing the 3 new colours & new stencils she is demonstrating.
Best of Show is 'Mystique' by Sharon Schamber- just amazing work, made in 4 sections & put together with rouleau lacing.

Australian Rachelle Denneny won the World of Beauty Award sponsored by  E Quilter with 'Royal Amethyst'. The back is as beautiful as the front & this is only the third time Rachelle has been a finalist.

Nancy Kerns won the Founders Award with her quilt 'Mary Simon Rediscovered'. It is wonderful to be able to view the quilts on Preview night without great crowds & talk to some of the winners who stand with their quilts.
