Walking to Galleria Borghese

An early morning walk to Villa Borghese gardens and the Galleria Borghese for tickets, had us passing the Spanish Steps before the hordes of tourists arrived. We had seen the Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn movie Roman Holiday recently and we wanted to visit this area.

The mornings are cold but it soon warms up, so our light weight wool has been perfect.

The Borghese gardens are a wonderful green space in central Rome without traffic noise when you walk in the central area, surrounded by the large trees. Dog owners love the place.

The coffee and lemon cake are also to be recommended at the café near the lake, which was being worked on while we visited.

There is a great view of Piazza del Popolo from the gardens.
