A Seasonal Change quilt

My 12"square quilt A Seasonal Change is currently available in the SAQA Auction
Pages 3a and 3b are the last to be auctioned before the Houston International Quilt Festival where selected pieces will also be available. All money raised goes back into funding SAQA member activities. I was surprised to see I have sent a quilt for the last 7 years, denoted by the number of asterisks after the maker's name. Glad someone is keeping count!

Canberra Mini Retreat

Had a great time in Canberra with the Unique Stitching Mini Retreat. Nothing mini about the organisation behind the event, or the hotel catering or the students' enthusiasm!I taught 3 x 1 day workshops with a full classroom for Oil Stick Intensive.

We made rubbing plates.

 And explored surfaces which gave us patterns.

What a great day we had with beautiful fabrics created.

Brisbane mall

Brisbane City Mall is a busy spot and every now and then when you get the chance to look up, instead of where you are going, you will be rewarded by a surprise. This lovely butterfly building façade is on the Wintergarden complex.

I hope pink bunny gets to enjoy the view too. His cousin is at the airport!

Audio book

Am I the last person to have discovered The Clan of the Cave Bear and the Earth Children series by Jean M Auel? I have enjoyed listening to the first 2 in the series courtesy of the Brisbane City Council Library.

Paris

This iconic Parisian symbol, printed on cotton patchwork fabric caught my eye and had to come home with me. I think it will make it's way into my French rubbings quilt or quilts, when I have time to design them.

Collections

Old lawnmowers! I remember these engineless push ones too.

Had to laugh when I saw the first washing machine I had as a young bride!

How can we forget souvenir spoons?

 

Museum exhibition

This exhibition is one I came across the other week at the Queensland Museum. It was very interesting to see the various objects people were collecting, many recognisable from events in Queensland during my own lifetime.

Loved all the pineapple items. I have a pineapple teapot in my teapot collection. My collection was getting big and space was limited in one of the kitchen's we had, so I have not added to the collection. On the Sunshine Coast we had the Big Pineapple tourist attraction when I was a youngster so the paraphernalia brought back happy memories of visits to it.

The free exhibition continues until December 31.
