Way to Vieste

Now this is much more like Amalfi, but without the development. The white cliffs falling into the sea are so picturesque. Olive groves dot the terraced slopes and livestock is also seen grazing the hills. The farmers here have used ingenuity and hard work to make these rocky hills productive. The Gargano Peninsular in Puglia is beautiful. It juts into the blue waters of the Adriatic Sea.

Coves, grottos and torre make an interesting drive, and then, on rounding a hill, Vieste comes into view, perched high on it's white cliffs.
The wide sandy sweep of beach is our introduction to this new town to explore. Vieste has been in existence since 500 BC and while the Turks attacked in the past and slaughtered the population, now holiday makers invade and spread their euros around. The biggest bloodshed these days may be over a parking spot, although double parking may alleviate this.
The marble paved streets and alleys of the old town are lovely.

The doors of San Francesco have a scene in each panel and are a good candidate for rubbing, but some things need to remain untouched!
