Angkor Wat visit

Let's take a short trip to the amazing Angkor Wat temple. First we board our tuk tuk for the short 7 kilometre ride out.
We are in the capable hands of Sophat, driver 1058,  who calmly makes his way through the traffic, mostly headed in the same direction as us.
We arrive early, not for sunrise, but early enough that our shadows are long on the stones of the Western gate.

The complex is impressive. Built in the 12th century by Suryavarman II, it is beautiful in its symmetry and although parts are missing the beauty of what once was, stands out and catches you unawares.
Some details of the stunning reliefs in the long outer corridors, polished black from human hands. They are now roped off.
A side view as we walked outside the walls.
