Evolution of a quilt

Quilting is a process of putting various design processes together to come out with a final product; one that hopefully you are happy with. 90% of the time taken to make a quilt is the design process, the thought and thinking that goes into what you see as the finished product. The thinking may start years ahead of the finished product or if you are working in a series be the next exploration step.
I want to share a series of photos taken in some of the design stages of my latest quilt for the Viewpoints 9 Unnatural challenge, our last challenge in this round. I began with a lightly coloured background fabric in pink. Lots of fern and palm frond prints in very bright unnatural colours for these leaves. Then to decided where to place the created leaves. My i-pad really helps this process.

More tomorrow.
