I'm back in Brisbane so no more travel envy Diane- or at least for a while! This piece languished on my design wall for some time waiting for an edge finish. It is small- approximately 14" long x 15" wide so I decided a stitched edge would be fine. I use the walking foot to do this with a zigzag stitch of width 3 & length .4 or .5. It's a little more open than satin stitch. The hand stitched on light panel is mono printed & the whole piece is free machine quilted. I like to paint into some areas after the stitching to bring out the design.
Travel is an exciting & large part of my life, combined with creating fabric, stitching art quilts & enjoying textile traditions around the world.
I work in the quilting industry; exhibit, judge, curate, tutor & write.
These are some of the threads of my life.
