Mesa Verde #2

This is such an incredibly special area & in the afternoon we took the Cliff Palace tour with Ranger Jim, who took us back in time with his story telling & brought Cliff Palace to life. Tourists are restricted in many areas, as preservation is the focus. We have been amazed at the cheap cost of entering National Parks & the wonderful facilities available.
These are remains of sandals found at these archaeological sites. They are tightly woven of yucca fibres.
The ancient peoples used toe & hand holds chipped into the rock walls to climb up & down. We had the luxury of sturdy ladders. This is a very special place Dianne & I have many points of inspiration from my travels Jan. Knowing where to start will be the problem.
